Why A-E-I-O-U ?
AEIOU has a simple structure — based on the vowels — to help you explore different areas of your life.
- A – Addiction: Progress, triggers, meetings, cravings, joys, setbacks ...
- E – Exercise: Including eating, sleep - anything about your physical health.
- I – Self-Care: Things that nourished you, music, ice-cream, good movie ...
- O – Others: Made someone a cup of tea, put out the neighbours bin ...
- U – Underneath: What's happening below the surface - emotions, annoying thoughts, hopes ...
- BTW – By The Way: Anything else you think of.
How to Use AEIOU
- Log in each day if you can. It's fine if you miss a day - but the more consistent you are - the stronger you get.
- Write briefly in each section (or skip as needed - all sections are optional)
- Optionally track your mood
- Save your entry — it’s only visible to you (unless you share it - see below)
- Review your progress with summaries and charts

You can come back and update your entry any time during the day — maybe something shifts or you remember something later.
But once today becomes yesterday, your entry is locked. This helps protect your journal’s honesty — it becomes a true record, not a rewritten version.
